The brief

What the client needed

The Melbourne Cricket Club needed its old southern stand replaced in time for the 1992 Cricket World Cup, without stopping the ground's sporting calendar.

What we did

Scope and delivery

  • Staged demolition of the old stand around the sporting calendar
  • A 324-metre-long, 45-metre-high stand with four tiers of seating
  • Food and beverage, bars and corporate suites
  • Underground car parking, offices and a police station within the stand
The outcome

Why it matters

Building in a live venue to a fixed event date is the stadium brief at its hardest.
