The brief

What the client needed

Western Australia wanted a contemporary performing arts destination in Perth's revitalised cultural centre. Kerry Hill Architects' design was chosen from 40 entries worldwide.

What we did

Scope and delivery

  • The 575-seat Heath Ledger Theatre and the 200-seat Studio Underground
  • Rehearsal and backstage facilities
  • The Courtyard, a multi-purpose outdoor space, with public spaces, foyers and bars
  • Acoustic treatments isolating noise and vibration from the nearby road and rail
The outcome

Why it matters

Specialist theatre equipment, demanding finishes and acoustics, all on a tight inner-city footprint.
